His ranged abilities also allow him to play safe around pallets, as he can just wait for the Survivor to drop the pallet, and get multiple blade hits to fill the Laceration circle. Landing blades on Survivors is not that difficult for the Trickster, especially if he fires them rapidly, and the Trickster can easily take advantage of Survivors who are out of position. This makes the Trickster’s ability to kill dependent on what map he gets. This becomes even more noticeable on large maps.Īlong with this, anything Survivors can use to hide from the Trickster’s blades can hurt his playstyle. He travels at a slower movement speed, which can make it difficult to keep pressure up during a trial. Now that you know how his power works, is it any good? We already have two ranged Killers, and while I think the Trickster’s power has potential, he does have the same weaknesses as the Huntress and the Deathslinger. Survivors can tell Main Event is active because the Trickster’s blades will have a yellow glow. While the Main Event is active, the Trickster can throw blades much faster, incurs no speed penalty while throwing blades, and can throw blades even if he has none left. If the player does not activate it before the power bar depletes all the way, then the Trickster will have to fill the meter again. The meter starts to deplete rapidly, so the Trickster must quickly trigger the Main Event with the secondary action button. When this meter is filled, the Main Event ability becomes available to the Trickster, which is indicated by a yellow effect appearing around the Trickster’s screen. That’s not all there is to his power, though! Every time the Trickster hits a Survivor with a dagger, it fills up a meter around his power. Additionally, both the Killer and Survivor hear a scream to indicate that the next dagger hit will injure the Survivor. These lines turn red, as does the Laceration circle, when the next dagger will injure the Survivor by one health state. Survivors also get these lines that multiply on their screen as the Laceration circle fills. Instead, each dagger lacerates the Survivor, which is indicated by a purple Laceration circle around their profile. These daggers do not injure Survivors normally. The Trickster can refill his daggers at any locker. When the Trickster throws daggers rapidly, his movement speed is slowed, but his accuracy and throwing speed is increased. He can choose to throw one dagger at a time, or rapid fire them by holding down the attack button. He starts the trial with 60 daggers that he can aim and throw at Survivors. While he may be a difficult Dead by Daylight killer to learn, it's hard to say that it doesn't suit him.The Trickster’s has a Terror Radius of 24 meters and a movement speed of 4.4 m/s. With that taken into account, him filling a survivor with knives rather than trying to take them down easily makes sense in a very twisted way. They're trying to bring down survivors as fast as possible, while Trickster wants to prolong the chase as well as their pain. That explains why his knives don't have the same stopping power as other special weapons such as Hillbilly's chainsaw or Huntress' hatchets. Before entering the Entity's realm, Ji-Woon was a sadistic murderer who tortured his victims rather than killing them swiftly. However, the slowness of his knives' damage buildup plays incredibly well into his established lore. He can drop survivors with melee attacks as well as any other, but his ability is widely panned as impractical. This requires incredible precision or a very lucky volley of knives, which is a major reason why, if not correctly strategized, Dead by Daylight's Trickster is considered an inefficient killer. It takes at least six knives for him to injure a survivor, and six more to bring them down so that he can carry them to a hook, where they can eventually be claimed by the Entity. He can throw his knives at survivors in order to fill a Laceration meter that deals damage once it is full. As for Trickster's playstyle, his specialty is carrying 44 throwing knives with him into each game that can be refilled by checking lockers.
